Dolly Parton Concert

We travelled to Cardiff from Barnstaple, North Devon, to see Dolly Parton in concert. The Park Inn is directly opposite the International Arena, and this was great. We were disappointed, however, that the hotel restaurant and main bar were closed for three days, due to functions, taking place. There was a temporary bar set up in the lounge area, but this didn't stock many drinks, and so the sparse staff had to keep leaving the bar to go to the main bar for drinks. The queues were long and people were waiting long periods. A lot more money would have passed over the bar if it had been more efficient. We don't go away very often, and like to have a meal and a drink in comfort when we do. This was not possible. The hotel is beautiful and has obviously had work done to it, but it let itself down by not advising those booking of the lack of facilities at that time. Dolly Parton Concert was as good as expected from a professional such as Dolly.

treat at hotel for me, hubby, daughter and granddaughter to mark occasion of "Grandads" 60th birthday. Nice meal, bit of shopping, train journey and Cardiff Bay visit.Short and sweet.
