The third largest city in Wales, Newport stands on the banks of the River Usk. A city of contrasts where the cathedral, castle and Roman walls mingle with high-tech developments. Newport's most famous landmark, the Transporter Bridge can you take you across the river by gondola!

Two Nights in Cwmbran

Our visit was work related therefore no attractions were visited apart from the local council offices in Newport where the car parking charge was outrageous! Local directions could be improved, particuarly the route between the hotel and Blackwood. The pool etc. looked very inviting, pity no time to participate!
