Great Base

Hotel is a basic hotel on the outskirts of Cardiff but provides a comfortable room and the staff were fab. It costs about 70GBP in a taxi to Cardiff so bear this in mind if you're going for a night out but based on what we paid this was a great value hotel.

Short Break in Sarn Park

The booking material for Day's Inn at Sarn service area (Jcn 36 of the M4) indicated that food was available at the adjacent service area. On this basis I did not eat in Cardiff as I passed through. Arriving at the hotel at 9:15pm on Sunday evening I found all of the restaurants were closed at the service area. The moral of the story: don't believe everything they tell you in the brochure.

Old Haunts Revisited

We visited South Wales, on behalf of the (even) older members of our family, with the specific objective to paying respects to the buriel places of members of the family. We sought minimum standards of accommodation, consistent eith convenient location to access the various sites. Days Inn Bridgend was quite adequate (few other alternatives, in any event!) The food is a drawback with such establishements, but a Continental breakfast was available and this was quite adequate.
